The Oil and the Asking
The Oil and the Asking is a whimsical rhyming picture book about a young man whose grand plans for life are transformed after a chance encounter with Blessed Leo Dupont and the powerful devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus.
Crafted in the style of a vintage picture book, this story blends delightful original illustrations with moments of humor, wonder, and quiet depth. A perfect introduction to the Holy Face devotion for young and old alike and an ideal family read-aloud.
"Absolutely love this story. From the darling illustrations to the inspiring tale which introduces young readers to a powerful devotion, The Oil and the Asking will become a treasured book in your home library!"
— Katie Warner, bestselling Catholic children's author, FirstFaithTreasury.com
"What a unique way to share the devotion to the Holy Face with an audience of little Catholics! I love how this story centers on "ordinary" people living their Catholic faith in their humble work and daily interactions. Such an important aspect to highlight for children. In addition to a meaty story alongside stunning art, the book also includes additional background, prayers, and insight in the back. This is a volume that families will come back to again and again."
— Clara Davison, manager of online programming at holyheroes.com
